Dawn M. Portney graduated from Pace University School of Law in 2000. She began her legal career at the law firm of Cuddy, Feder & Worby LLP in White Plains, New York where her practice focused on residential and commercial real estate, corporate, and industrial development financing transactions. After her tenure with Cuddy, Feder &Worby, Dawn was in-house counsel, Assistant Secretary and Chief Ethics Officer with the publicly traded real estate investment company, Acadia Realty Trust, for more than 10 years. At Acadia, Ms. Portney handled complex real estate transactions and financings of commercial and mixed-use properties nationwide, with concentrations in New York City, Chicago, Miami and Savannah. In addition, Dawn was responsible for the corporate structure of purchasing entities with multiple investors and through Acadia’s strategic opportunity funds. Ms. Portney played a critical role in the formation of these funds and communication with institutional investors. As part of her duties as corporate counsel, Dawn worked hand in hand with outside litigation counsel. As Assistant Secretary and Chief Ethics Officer, she was part of its executive team responsible for the Acadia’s NYSE and SEC filings, organizing and participating in board of trustees’ functions, corporate governance and the handling of ethical concerns.

Dawn brought her vast real estate and corporate experience to Pollock & Maguire, LLP in 2020. While with Pollock & Maguire, Ms. Portney worked with senior partner Lee Pollock to develop her litigation skills and in October 2021, she joined Lee when he formed the present Pollock & Associates Law. Her primary areas of practice now consist of civil litigation, residential and commercial real estate, and corporate transactions.

When not in the office, Dawn enjoys spending time with her friends and family, especially her two children, and indulging in her equine passion as often as possible.
